Academic Arts Enriched Program (AAEP)
The Limestone District School Board offers the Academic Arts Enriched Program (AAEP) in Grades 9 and 10 to prepare students for arts-based Focus programs as well as university preparation and Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Grades 11 and 12. The Ontario Ministry Academic curriculum is infused with an arts focus, where applicable and appropriate, with a view to establishing an arts based learning community. Course material is also enriched via the program’s field study component. In this way, an arts perspective is encouraged and valued as an interpretation of the rigorous academic curriculum content. Any student entering the Grade 9 academic pathway may apply. AAEP is currently offered at Loyalist Collegiate & Vocational Institute.
Advanced Placement Preparatory Program (also known as AP Prep)
The Board offers theAdvanced Placement Preparatory Program in Grades 9 and 10 to prepare students for university preparation and Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Grades 11 and 12. The Ontario Ministry Academic curriculum is accelerated in pace, and enriched in depth and breadth of skills and content as well as via its field study component. The Advanced Placement Preparatory Program fosters students’ creativity, curiosity and commitment to their learning and pursuance of post-secondary programs. Any student entering the Grade 9 academic pathway may apply. This program is currently offered at Loyalist Collegiate & Vocational Institute.
International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities. Currently, the IB Programme is hosted in the Limestone District School Board at Kingston Secondary School.
Bayridge Computer Specialist Program (BCSP)
The Bayridge Computer Specialist Program (BCSP) is a unique, tech-focused opportunity available to all Grade 9 students across the Limestone District School Board. Hosted at Bayridge Secondary School, BCSP is a unique program, offering students a deep dive into computer science and programming.
Students benefit from:
- Engaging in Computer Science and programming from Grade 9 – 12, including mentoring opportunities, guest speakers, field trips and more!
- Introduction and access to industry-recognized coding platforms to build knowledge and skills
- The opportunity to take 2 Advanced Placement (AP) computer science courses
- Participation in coding competitions
- Exposure to fields like cybersecurity, game development, eSports, and networking
- Certifications and work placements that build real-world skills, through Specialist High School Major
BCSP prepares students for success in post-secondary tech programs and careers in the digital economy.
